Abhijeet S. Gholap

Abhijeet S. Gholap (born January 1, 1972) is an Indian researcher, entrepreneur and film producer.[1][2]

Early life and education

Abhijeet was born on January 1, 1972 in Mumbai, India.[3] He attended Stanford Graduate School of Business and received his M.tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 1994.[4][5]

Career

Abhijeet worked for TCS, Cedartech and Siemens Medical Solutions before co-founding a digital pathology company, BioImagene in 2002.[5] Later in 2004, the company acquired US-based image management company, Scimagix Inc.[6] In 2006, BioImagene acquired Tissue Informatics Inc.[7][8][9] BioImagene was later acquired by Roche Holding AG for 100 million USD.[10][11][12]

Abhijeet currently holds 21 patents to his credit.[13] He is the founder of Optra Ventures, California.[14] Subsidaries of Optra Ventures include Optra Systems, Optra SCAN and Optra HEALTH.[5][15] Since 2019, he serves as the member of board of directors of a California-based, non-profit organization, TiE Silicon Valley.[3] Abhijeet received Late Rajiv Gandhi Sanganak Sarathi award in 2009.[4]

Filmography

In 2011, Abhijeet produced his debut film, Deool under Devisha Films Productions.[16] It is an Indian Marathi dark comedy directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni.[17] In 2012, he produced his second film, Bharatiya on the social topic presented as a dark humor.[2][18] The following year in 2013, Abhijeet produced Hou De Jarasa Ushir.[19]

His debut movie, Deool won the 59th National Film Awards for Best Feature Film.[20] Abhijeet received Golden Lotus Award (Swarna Kamal) by the President of India.[21] His third production film, Hou De Jarasa Ushir (2013) was selected among top 282 films for a nomination in Best Film Category for Oscars.[22]
