Drew Stafford

Drew Stafford (born October 30, 1985) is an American ice hockey right winger. He currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Buffalo Sabres. Other than hockey, Stafford has also been the guitarist for the bands Invisible Children and Red Seal Peach.[1]

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Stafford played 3 years of college ice hockey at the University of North Dakota.

Stafford was drafted with the 13th overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He started his professional career playing with the Sabres' AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. During his time in the AHL, Stafford played for Planet USA during the AHL All-Star Classic in 2006-07. On June 3, 2011, he signed a 4-year, $16 million contract extension with the Sabres.[2]

On February 11, 2015, the Sabres traded Stafford along with Tyler Myers, Brendan Lemieux, Joel Armia and a first-round draft pick to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and the right to goaltending prospect Jason Kasdorf.[3]
