Summary

Description
English: This image from a West Point atlas has been rotated so north is at the top, and TwoScarsUp has added more labels to make it easier to read. (Note that the "North arrow" is not perfectly straight "up"—this is correct.) The original atlas page has been cropped to focus on the east side of the battlefield. The map shows the positions of the Union and Confederate armies on the Shiloh battlefield around 9:00 AM on April 6, 1862. The location of the Sunken Road and the Peach Orchard are based on text and maps in "Shiloh and the Western Campaign of 1862" by O. Edward Cunningham found on pages 240 and 267.
