Summary

Description
English: Louis Charles de France's heart. This son of Louis XVI, called Louis XVII by French royalists, was emprisoned during the French Revolution and died of an illness, still a child. Both genetic and historical studies in the beginning of the 21st century confirmed that the heart indeed did belong to Louis Charles de France. Consequently, on 8 June 2004, it was placed in the chapelle des Bourbons in the Basilica of Saint-Denis.
