Français : Un groupe de 31 personnes photographiées à l'occasion du Juneteenth le 19 juin 1880, dans le Parc de l'Emancipation à Houston's Fourth Ward. Le "Juneteenth", jour de la Liberté (Freedom Day), jour de l'Émancipation (Emancipation Day), ou encore jour du Jubilé (Jubilee Day) est une fête officielle dans l'État du Texas (USA). Le "Juneteenth" est aussi célébrée de façon non officielle dans d'autres Etats des États-Unis d'Amérique. Le Juneteenth célébré le 19 juin symbolise l'émancipation des esclaves au Texas et plus généralement à travers tout les Etats confédérés du Sud des USA. Le terme « Juneteenth » est un mot-valise créé à partir de « June » et de « nineteenth » qui signifient respectivement « juin » et « dix-neuvième » en anglais. |
