Summary

Description
English: Kimigayo, national anthem of Japan. Music by Yoshiisa Oku and Akimori Hayashi (arranged by Franz Eckert, 1880). It is certain that the second national anthem was completed on October 26, 1880, because Eckert's autographed sheet music currently stored at the Imperial Household Agency clearly states the date 1880.10.26. The government formally adopted "Kimigayo" as the national anthem in 1888. In 1888 (Meiji 21), the Ministry of the Navy printed a score for a brass band and officially distributed it to government offices and treaty countries. "Dai Nippon Ceremony" is written horizontally on the cover, and below that is the Kikuhana Emblem. The title "JAPAN ISCHE HYMNE", and the name and affiliation of the composer "nach einer altjapanischer Melodie", which means that it is based on an ancient Japanese folk song. "F.ECKERT, Kongl.Pr.Musikdirektor" etc. are printed, and the composition year "1888" is printed at the bottom.
