DescriptionPresident Roosevelt speaks at Pomona College, 1903.jpg
English: President Theodore Roosevelt addresses a large crowd outside of Pearsons Hall on the campus of Pomona College in Claremont. The president was met at the local Sante Fe train station and drawn by students in a carriage to the Hall where a platform had been built and decorated with the colors of both Harvard University and Pomona College. The local newspaper reported that thousands came to hear the President, who spoke for 25 minutes without a microphone. Before he left the campus, he planted a California oak tree in front of the hall. Roosevelt was then escorted back to the train station and departed for Los Angeles, via Pasadena.
