Plate taken from the 'Illustrated London News', engraved by W. J. Palmer after a drawing by C. I. Durham, shows views of the factory. The factory, opened in 1804, and was a major manufacturer of firearms for the British Army; originally built to produce the 'Brown Bess' musket.
