Louth 'village' was the seat of the bishop of Clogher when the Anglo-Normans invaded. It was the most important and central native settlement in the area and gave its name to the new county of 'Luva'. Louth's glory was subsequently stolen by the Norman foundations of Ardee, Drogheda and Dundalk but it's still a nice, interesting place to visit and is full of medieval monuments. This little church is quite similar to Saint Colmcill'es church in Kells, county Meath, I think.
