Description Pitch pine and conglomeratic rock typical of Schunemunk Mountain. Geological details: The Schunemunk conglomerate (also spelled Schunnemunk or Skunnemunk) represents a Mid-Devonian terrestrial molasse deposit of the Acadian fold belt. The conglomerate has been folded subsequently during the Alleghenian orogeny, the last orogenic event in the Appalachian Mts. Green Pond outlier (downfaulted block with Paleozoic sediments surrounded by precambrian basement) of Orange Co., New York.
