Description
English: A U.S. Navy Vought F-8J Crusader (BuNo 150918) of Fighter Squadron 24 (VF-24) "Red Checkertails" landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CVA-19) in the early 1970s. VF-24 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 21 (CVW-21) aboard the Hancock for three deplyoments to Vietnam between 1970 and 1973. The Crusader is armed with a AIM-9D Sidewinder missile. The F-8J 150918 was retired to the MASDC as FC0018 on 7 November 1975.
