Heian-kyō
Lua error in Module:Unicode_data at line 293: attempt to index local 'data_module' (a boolean value). was the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868.[1] Heian-kyō is one of several former names for the city now known as Kyoto.
In 794, Emperor Kammu established this city as Japan's capital. The move from Heijō-kyō to Heian-kyo marks the beginning of the Heian period of Japanese history.[2]
