Manouchehr Boroumand

Manouchehr Boroumand (26 March 1934 – 21 December 2017) was an Iranian heavyweight weightlifter. He was born in Babolsar, Iran. He was selected for the 1960 Summer Olympics, but withdrew in the last moment due to an illness.[1]

Boroymand also missed the 1962 Asian Games because Iran did not send a delegation there. At the 1964 Summer Olympics he placed 12th. Boroumand was known for his victory in 1966, when he won a gold medal at the Asian Games. He became the first Asian weightlifter to cross the 500 kg barrier in the total, which he has done at the world championships.[2]

Boroymand died of a cerebral hemorrhage on 21 December 2017 in Babolsar at the age of 83.[3]
