New England Computer Services (NECS, Inc.)

NECS Inc. is a software company in the United States that creates computer software for businesses. It is based in Branford, Connecticut, and focuses on helping small to medium-sized food distribution businesses with its ERP software.[1] The software assists in managing inventory, warehouses, pricing, orders, and accounting tasks.[2][3]

History

NECS, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Christopher Anatra in a small space in Guilford, Connecticut.[4][5][6][7][8]

The first software, NECS Food Distributing System, was released in 1989. NECS, Inc.[9] officially became a corporation in 1990. Subsequent versions, including FoodPro in 1998 and the rebranded entrée in 2003, followed.[10] The latest version, entrée v4, was introduced in 2014, operating on the SQL database.[11][12][13]

In 2016, the company moved to a larger office in Branford due to its growth.[14] NECS, Inc.'s flagship software, entrée, has received awards for over 10 years.[15][16][17]

NECS, Inc. serves a diverse range of customers, from small businesses with a few million in sales to larger ones exceeding $500 million. The average customer generates sales in the range of $25-50 million annually and uses 20-30 workstations.[18][19] Currently, over 1,500 wholesale food distributors utilize their software.[20][21]
