Tawang

Tawang district is one of the 16 Districts of Arunachal Pradesh in the North-east India. The area is historically Tibetan territory and is claimed by China as a part of South Tibet. It is the eighth least populous district in the country (out of 640).^[1]

During his life time the historical buddha specifically requested his likeness not be recorded in idolatrous form . This is a photograph I took of the statue of the Tibetan deity/archetype Sakyamuni Buddha in the Tawang Gompa in Arunachal Pradesh, India.
