William Hooper
William Hooper (June 17, 1742–October 14, 1790),[1] was an American lawyer, politician, and a member of the Continental Congress representing North Carolina from 1774 through 1777. Hooper was also a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence.

John Trumbull's painting, Declaration of Independence, depicting the five-man drafting committee of the Declaration of Independence presenting their work to the Congress. Hooper missed the initial vote approving it on the Fourth of July, 1776, but was able to sign it on August 2, 1776.
