Summary

Description
English: Recorded in Edinburg, Scotland. Bavarian is spoken by some 14,000,000 people, principally in the south German state of Bavaria, as well as in parts of Austria and Italy. Though primarily a spoken language of daily colloquial use, Bavarian does enjoy a media presence, especially in music and online, including a native edition of Wikipedia, the Boarische Wikipedia. A member of the Upper Germanic dialect continuum, it is closely related to Alemmanic, Franconian, and German, and more distantly to Frisian, Limburgish, and Dutch. Bavarian was also the native tongue of Ludwig Thoma, a nineteenth century author who composed some works in the language.
