| Blazon | Deutsch: „Das Wappen der Stadt Eschweiler zeigt im goldenen (gelben) Feld einen aufrechtstehenden schwarzen Löwen mit roter Zunge und roten Krallen, der in den Vorderpranken einen aufgerichteten blauen Schlüssel hält. Über dem Wappenschild befindet sich eine ziegelrote dreitürmige Mauerkrone.“ English: „The arms were granted on December 13, 1880. The arms show the lion of Jülich, as the village was ruled by the Dukes of Jülich. The key is the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of the village. The old seals of Eschweiler, known since 1469, show the lion and the key next to each other, but since the 16th century the lion holds the key.“ |
