Deutsch: Lichtenau ist eine Gründung des Straßburger Bischofs Konrad III. von Lichtenberg, der der hier errichteten Tiefburg und dem Flecken ihren Namen in Anspielung auf die elsässische Stammburg Lichtenberg gab. Im Jahre 1300 von König Albrecht zur Stadt erhoben, war Lichtenau bis ins 17. Jahrhundert Amtssitz in der Grafschaft Hanau-Lichtenberg. Dem im Jahre 1900 geschaffenen Wappen diente das seit 1407 belegte Stadtsiegel als Vorlage, das eine Mauer mit Tor und Turm zeigt, wobei auf der äußersten linken Zinne ein Helm mit einem Schwanenrumpf als Helmzier aufsitzt. Helm und Schwanenrumpf stammen aus dem Oberwappen der Grafen von Lichtenberg. In späteren Siegeln trat an Stelle des Helms mit Schwanenrumpf ein Schwan, Helm und Schwan wurden auch über dem Wappenschild plaziert. Die Flagge verlieh das Landratsamt Rastatt am 18. November 1980. |
