Description Dead man's hand, two pairs of aces and eights, the hand that wild Bill Hickock had when he was shot August 2, 1876. The fifth card was a diamond (jack or queen, according to Hickok's biographer, Joseph C. Rosa in Wild Bill Hickok: the man and his myth, 1996, University Press of Kansas, ISBN 0-7006-0773-0, p. 194).
