Español: El escudo de la ciudad fue entregado a la Municipalidad con motivo de cumplirse el segundo Centenario de Melipilla, el 11 de octubre de 1942, por Sergio Fernández Larraín y fue diseñado ese mismo año por el escritor y heraldista español don Julián Amilibia, quien residía en Chile. La siguiente es la descripción de este símbolo: el escudo es presidido por una corona condal, título de su fundador, rodeado de lambrequines de oro y gules, siendo custodiado por cuatro espíritus guerreros (significado etimológico del vocablo mapuche Melipilla). En el campo superior, sobre fondo de plata se encuentra el Puente de Logroño y una riada con ondas de azul y plata, que pertenecen al escudo de don Gonzalo de Vargas y Rivilla, propietario de la estancia y donante de los principales terrenos. Las cinco estrellas que contiene pertenecen al escudo del Corregidor don Francisco de Rojas y Ovalle. Por otra parte, en el campo inferior, sobre verde hay dos gavillas o queñes de trigo en oro, simbolizando la riqueza agrícola de la zona y una abeja en oro que representa la laboriosidad de su gente.''
