Summary
DescriptionGracie Allen CBS.JPG
Publicity photo of Gracie Allen from the Burns and Allen CBS Radio program.
Date
No year shown on release. The couple changed the show's name to Burns and Allen in 1936. During the period from 1936 to 1950, the show had periods where it aired on CBS and some years at NBC. Just as in early television, the program sponsor paid the bills and called the shots. During the many years it was on radio, Amos 'n' Andy also traveled back and forth between the two major networks of the time; their initial switch to CBS was due to the wishes of their new sponsor, Campbell's. Burns and Allen left radio for television in 1950, so this photo should date from 1936 to 1950—within the pre-1978 no notice range.
