English: Philippine Marines with 28th Company 8th Marine Battalion Landing Team, push forward after splashing ashore in an amphibious assault vehicle during an amphibious assault training exercise, April 14. The amphibious assault training was part of Exercise Balikatan 2009, a combined joint bilateral training exercise involving Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S military personnel and subject mater experts. Balikatan is a Tagalog word that means "shoulder to shoulder" and characterizes the philosophy and intent of the exercise.
