English: Puliyogare Or Tamarind Rice is a popular meal in South India. Tamarind pulp is cooked into a thick paste in hot oil, a masala powder of Roasted spices like coriander, cumin, pepper, turmeric, red chillies, bengal gram, black gram dal, Fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, some jaggery pieces and salt. The paste is called Hunse Gojju or Tamarind chutney or Tamarind sauce or Tamarind pickle or Tamarind gravy. It can be used as any of these too by changing its consistency. It's tempered with whole spices like red chillies, sesame seeds, mustard seeds, peanuts , curry leaves tempered in hot oil . This Gojju has a shelf life of few months.
Cooked rice is thoroughly mixed with few spoons of this Gojju and tasty meal is ready.
