Blasonierung: »Das Stadtwappen ist ein geteilter Schild; oben in Blau ein schreitender goldener Greif mit aufgeworfenem Schweif und ausgeschlagener roter Zunge; unten von Silber über Rot geteilt.« (Hauptsatzung der Hansestadt Rostock (vom 7. Juni 2005): §1, Abs.2)
English: Coat of Arms of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Blazon: Party per fess Azure a griffin passant Or langed Gules, the base also per fess Argent and Gules.
