Deutsch: Zottiger Bienenkäfer
Nederlands: Behaarde Bijenwolf

English: Brightly coloured Soldier Beetle at the moment of take-off. The elytra are fully lifted above the thorax; the hindwings are just unfurling and moving rapidly outwards; the hind legs are pushing off from the Brown Knapweed (Centaurea jacea) flower, while the forelegs are already in the air. The bright red abdomen, usually covered, is fully displayed - most likely this flash of colour helps to startle predators. Location:Dordogne, France, Europe
