The Koweta Mission was founded in 1843 when white [[missionaries]] arrived in [[Coweta, Oklahoma|Coweta]] to teach [[Native American]] children. Reverend [[Robert McGill Loughridge| Robert Loughridge]] and his wife, Olivia, bought an empty cabin for ten dollars and began teaching.
