70 Minutes
70 Minutes (Icelandic: 70 mínútur) is an Icelandic variety television series that was shown for 70 minutes every weekday on the television station Popp Tíví from 2000 to 2004. The show consisted of chat and various segments such as: Challenge, disgusting drink, hidden camera, freaking out outside and other antics. Sigmar and Jóhannes were the main hosts, then Auðunn Blöndal and Sverrir Þór Sverrisson came to help. Later, they were more and more in the shows and became the only hosts of the show when Jóhannes left, but then Auðunn, Sigmar and Sverrir Þór Sverrisson (Sveppi) were with the show. They released the album Besta úr 70 minutem which sold over 5,000 copies and Besta úr 70 minutem 2 which sold over 10,000 copies. They also released the album Besta úr 70 minutum 3. Sigmar left the show in 2003 and Auðunn and Sverrir (Auddi og Sveppi) were the only ones with the show until the beginning of 2004 when Pétur Jóhann Sigfússon joined them, who had played with them in Svínasúpan. They hosted the show until December 20, 2004, along with input from Hugi Halldórssson or Ofurhuga. For his contribution to the shows, Sverrir received a nomination for the Edda Award as TV personality of the year. The shows then stopped in 2005 but moved to Stöð 2 under the name Strákarnir except that that episode was only 25 minutes long and was not broadcast live.
