Albert Heijn (AH) is the biggest supermarket business in the Netherlands.[2] It has stores in many other countries. It was founded by Albert Heijn.[3] It is now owned and run by Ahold.[3]

History

The supermarket chain started in Oostzaan.[3] Eight years later, Heijn opened new stores in Purmerend and Zaandam. He continued to increase the range of goods, and to increase the number of shops. By 1910, he was operating ten shops. He later started selling goods branded with his name.
