Alicia Seiger
Alicia Seiger is an American expert in climate change and finance. She works to help businesses and governments understand and reduce their impact on the environment. She is currently the Director of Climate at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a group that supports science and technology to help solve big problems. [1]
Education
Alicia studied at Duke University, where she created her own major combining environmental science, policy, and cultural anthropology. She later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University.[2]
Career
Alicia has worked in many areas, including business, government, and education. She started her career at TerraPass, a company that helps people and businesses offset their carbon emissions. She also worked at Flycast Communications, one of the first online advertising companies.
At Stanford University, Alicia was a lecturer at the Law School and led programs focused on sustainable finance and energy policy. [2]She helped create the Sustainable Finance Initiative and was the Managing Director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance.
Alicia has advised government leaders, including the governors of California and New York, on climate risk and sustainability. She served on New York State’s Decarbonization Advisory Panel and co-chaired California’s Climate-Related Risk Disclosure Advisory Group. [3]
Publications and Boards
In 2021, Alicia wrote a book called Settling Climate Accounts: Navigating the Road to Net Zero. The book discusses the challenges and solutions for reducing carbon emissions to zero.
She serves on the boards of several organizations, including Ceres, PRIME Coalition, and the E-liability Institute. She also co-founded Stanford Professionals in Energy (SPIE), a network for energy professionals. [4]
Personal Life
Alicia has been interested in sustainability since the early 1990s. She continues to work on projects that help create a cleaner and more sustainable world.
