Alina Surmacka Szczesniak
Alina Surmacka Szcześniak (July 8, 1925 – July 23, 2016) was a Polish-born American chemist and food scientist.[1] She is best known for her contributions to food texture.[2] She was born in Warsaw, Poland.

Szcześniak attended Bryn Mawr College as a foreign student after the Second World War. She earned a degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1969, Szcześniak was a Founding Editor of the Journal of Texture Studies. She served for 10 years in that role.
In 2002, she received the plaque of Honorary President of the International Federation of Surveyors on behalf of her father, Wladysław Surmacki. Her father was to be President in 1942 but did not survive the war.
Szcześniak lived in the United States.
