Area codes 817 and 682 are telephone area codes in the U.S. state of Texas. They the central northern part of Texas, including the city of Fort Worth and its surrounding areas. Area code 817 was created in 1953 when it was split from area code 915. It was overlaid by area code 682 in 2000.
