Bob Irwin

Robert Irwin (born 8 June 1939) is an Australian naturalist, animal conservationist, zookeeper and herpetologist. He is also famous for his conservation and husbandry work with apex predators and reptiles. In 1970, Irwin founded the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park (now known as Australia Zoo). He is the father of the late conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin.

Irwin was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He was married to Lyn Hakainsson until her death in a car accident in 2000.[1] The couple had three children; daughters Joy and Mandy, and son Stephen Robert. Steve died of a stingray injury in 2006.
