Bunshō (文正?) was a Japanese era name (年号, nengō,?, lit. "year name") after Kanshō and before Ōnin. The period started in February 1466 and ended in March 1467.[1] During this time, the emperor during this period was Go-Tsuchimikado-tennō (後土御門天皇?).[2]

Events of the Bunshō era

The Nio Gate at Kinpusen-ji in was built in the 1st year of Bunshō
  • 1466 (Bunshō 1): At Nara, Kinpusen-ji's Nio Gate (niomon) was built.[3]
  • 1466 (Bunshō 1, 1st month): Ashikaga Yoshimi, brother of the Shogun, was promoted to the second rank of the second class in the Imperial court hierarchy.[4]
