California State Legislature
The California State Legislature is a bicameral legislature for the state of California in the United States. It has a lower house, the California State Assembly, with 80 members, and an upper house, the California State Senate, with 40 members.[1] Both houses meet at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. It is one of ten full-time state legislatures in the United States.

Since 1996, the Democratic Party has controlled both houses.

Capitol Annex Swing Space. During the replacement of the Capitol Annex, starting in 2022 Legislature offices are located at 1021 O Street two blocks from the Capitol.
