Carlo Rubbia
Carlo Rubbia, (born 31 March 1934) is an Italian particle physicist and inventor. He shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1984 with Simon van der Meer for work leading to the discovery of the W and Z particles at CERN.[1][2][3][4] He was born in Gorizia, Italy.[5][6][7] He also promoted nuclear power and particle accelerator by thorium.
He was elected a member of the Pontifical Academy of Science and the Academia Europaea in 1992.[8]
