Cecil Woodham-Smith

Cecil Blanche Woodham-Smith (née Fitzgerald; 29 April 1896 – 16 March 1977) was a British historian. She wrote The Great Hunger about the history of the Potato Famine in Ireland. She was critical of the British government's handling of the famine in the book. She was particularly critical of Charles Edward Trevelyan, the man who ran the British government's relief effort in Ireland, and accused him of having anti-Irish racial sentiments.
