Center of Lake Como
The Center of Lake Como, known in Italian as the Centro Lago, is the Lake Como coastline of the center Y corner of Lake Como in Italy. There is no official boundary, but it is considered to be the coastal area of the Lake Como, extending from the rock formation Massif Punta Spartivento of Bellagio to Lierna, at the oriental border, although some other sources place the oriental boundary further east around Mandello del Lario up to Varenna, And the eastern border that starts from Menaggio, Griante, Cadenabbia, Tremezzo, up to Ossuccio where Villa Balbianello is located, and Lenno, on one side and always with the Bellagio peninsula in the centre. In this area of Lake Como, at the point where the lake brings together its branches, we find a landscape rich in history. This area represents the real Lake Como, for which it has become famous throughout the world.
This is the most exclusive and precious area of all of Lake Como, with its landscapes and settings. The natural, architectural and artistic beauties, the historic villages, the churches and abbeys, the spectacular villas and gardens make these villages the pearls of Lake Como. Among the most renowned villas we find Villa Carlotta, a privileged destination for its extraordinary gardens. You cannot miss a visit to Villa del Balbianello, full of artistic masterpieces. The whole area is a paradise for beauty lovers. Its position allows you to admire a panorama of the Alpine peaks including Legnone and Grigna.
The "Centro Lago" of Lake Como was extended to the rest of Lake Como, although the geography, culture, and climate are different, and here the properties are the most expensive in all of Lake Como. It is at this point, where the mountains fall vertically into the lake that the lake reaches its maximum depth (410 metres, a record for Italian lakes).
