Dan Haggerty

Dan Haggerty (November 19, 1941 – January 15, 2016) was an American actor. He played Grizzly Adams in the 1974 movie The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams and its television movie sequel The Capture of Grizzly Adams. Haggerty starred in an NBC "Grizzly Adams" television series which ran from 1977 to 1978.

He appeared in the road movie Easy Rider, the outlaw biker comedy Pink Angels, and many other movies. Haggerty is a former animal trainer and stunt man. He was the animal handler for a Tarzan movie and the 1966 Tarzan television series.

His many awards include a star on Hollywood Blvd. in 1994; the Dove Foundation's "Diamond Seal of Approval" for over 1 million family videos sold; the Harley-Davidson "Humanitarian of the Year" Award in 1986; "The People's Choice Award" for most popular actor in 1980; the Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International; and a star in Kanab, Utah - "Hollywood of the West" in 2009.

Haggerty died in Burbank, California from spinal cancer on January 15, 2016 at the age of 74.[1][2]
