Data collection
Data collection is the task of gathering and measuring data (information) in an orderly or systematic way. Researchers follow a formal plan for data collection to ensure that the information they collect has clear definitions, and is accurate. If you do not have clearly defined, accurate information, decisions you make using that information will not have validity. [1]
Data Collection Media
Example of data collection in the biological sciences: Adélie penguins are identified and weighed each time they cross the automated weighbridge on their way to or from the sea.
