Death of Chan Yin-lam
Chan Yin-lam was a teenage girl who died on 19 September 2019, probably. Her dead-body, without clothing, was discovered floating in the sea near Yau Tong, Hong Kong, on 22 September 2019. Following a preliminary autopsy, the police asserted that no foul play was suspected and that she killed herself.[1]
Expert (Philip Beh Swan-lip) thought that the discovery and cremation of Chan's body were suspicious: fully naked bodies in the sea would require thorough investigations. He thought that Chan's body had been hastily cremated, and urged for a coroner's inquest.[2][3] A jury decided, in September 2020, to rule out both homicide and suicide due to the lack of evidence. [4]
The rumour is that she was murdered because she took part in the 2019 Hong Kong protests,[5] but Chan's mother agrees with the conclusion that her daughter killed herself.[6][7]
