Department for Work and Pensions
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is a government department in the United Kingdom. It was set up in 2001 when the Department for Social Security was closed. It took over some the work of the Department for Education and Employment.[1] It pays Social security benefits in the United Kingdom.
Mel Stride is the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
It runs:
- Jobcentre Plus
- the Pension Service
- Disability and Carers Service.
- Child Maintenance Group
It is also responsible for the Health and Safety Executive, The Pensions Regulator and the Money and Pensions service. They are non-departmental public bodies.
