Diocese of Mariestad

Mariestad Cathedral.

The Diocese of Mariestad (Swedish: Mariestads stift) was a diocese of the Church of Sweden, established in 1580, and disestablished in 1646. It was disbanded following the establishment of the Diocese of Karlstad. Spanning across the Swedish historical provinces of Värmland and northern Västergötland, it used the Mariestad Cathedral as its seat.
