East Timor is divided into 13 municipalities (former districts), and one Special Administrative Region (Oecusse).[1] The municipalities are divided into administrative posts (former subdistricts), and further subdivided into sucos.[2]

The borders of the municipalities have been changed several times. The municipality of Atauro was founded on 1 January 2022.
