Eugene Bill Pryor

Eugene Bill Pryor more known as uncle Bill (1937 or 1938 – 19 October 2022) was a Surinamese politician. He was co-founder of Broederschap en Eenheid in de Politiek and its first president from 1973 to 1987. He was a member of the National Assembly from 1991 to 1996.[1]

Biography

Pyror was co-founder of Broederschap en Eenheid in de Politiek (BEP). He founded it together with some other of, at the time named the Progressieve Bosneger Partij (PBP). After its foundation in 1973, Pryor was elected as first president. Among other things, he made sure more women were adopted into the politics.[1] He was succeeded by Caprino Alendy in 1987.[2] Between 1991 and 1996 he was a member of the National Assembly (DNA), after being chosen in the Brokopondo district. Afterwards he became advisor and honorary president of the Broederschap en Eenheid in de Politiek.[1]

Pryor was also a headteacher.[1]

Pryor died in the morning of 19 October 2022 after a short illness, at the age of 84 years.[3][1]
