HX5924 This one looked very tidy, and would be one of the first locally assembled ones, as NZMC only started assembling these in Petone in 1976. NZMC brought in the MkI Civic and Austin Allegro at the same time to compete with each other (at the time, NZMC assembled both Honda and BL products, as well as Jaguar XJ6s). However, the Allegro was decimated sales-wise by the almighty Civic... This was in the middle of a line-up of three old Japanese hatchbacks - one from Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Spotted at Hinds, in deepest South Canterbury, NZ. |
