English: This graph has the aim is to show how, according to different criteria, abortion laws are applied in the states of the European Union, in order to have a general overview of legislation on the subject of abortion.
The data were extracted from the dataset provided by Global Abortion Policies Database.
The six criteria are risk to life, risk to health, rape, fetal impairment, economic or social and on request.
The visualisation uses different colors to represent where the law is permissive, where there are limitations of weeks (differentiating between a period of time between 10 and 24 weeks in which is allowed to have an abortion) and where it is not.
The analyzed countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden, identified through their ISO 3166-1 alpha 2 codes.
