Ελληνικά: Στρώματα ελαφρόπετρας. Σε ένα στρώμα υπάρχουν πολλές εισβολές μικρών ηφαιστειακών πετρωμάτων. Το ηφαίστειο της Θήρα/Σαντορίνη, Αιγαίο Πέλαγος, συγκέντρωσε αυτά τα υλικά κατά τη διάρκεια των μεγάλων μινωικών φάσεων έκρηξης (Ύστερη Εποχή του χαλκού, 16ος αιώνας, πχ, Μινωική έκρηξη). Αυτοί οι πάσσαλοι ελαφρόπετρας πάχους μέτρου στη βόρεια πλαγιά της Νότιας χερσονήσου έθαψαν επίσης την προϊστορική πόλη του Ακρωτηρίου, η οποία μόλις πρόσφατα ανασκάφηκε .
English: Layers of pumice, on top the eroded cover, now fertile soil. In one layer there are many small volcanic rocks. The volcano of the island Thera/Santorini, Aegean Sea piled up these materials during its giant minoan eruptionphases (Late-Bronze-Age, 3,5 ka, Minoan eruption). These meters thick pumice piles at the north cliff face of Santorini’s southern peninsula also buried the only recently found prehistoric city Akrotiri.
Deutsch: Eruptionsschichten und Erosionsdecke aus Bimsstein. Eine Schicht enthält kleine Gesteinseinschlüsse. Dies sind Auswurfsmassen der Minoischen Eruption (spätbronzezeitlich vor 3,6 ka) der Vulkaninsel Thera/Santorin im Ägäischen Meer. Das Foto entstand am Nordhang der südlichen Halbinsel bei „Valos harbour (Λιμάνι Μπάλου)“, am Rand des heutigen Dorfes Akrotiri. Diese Bimssteinschichten begruben metertief auch die mit der „Minoischen Hochkultur“ verbundene prähistorische Siedlung Akrotiri. |
