Description
For this well known allegory, the eighteen years old Countess Augusta Reuss-Ebersdorf and Lobenstein (1757–1831) stood model in 1775. She was known as the most beautiful woman in the area. The wife of Franz Friedrich Duke of Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld, she is an ancestress to numerous Royal families. Her son was King Leopold I. of Belgium, her granddaughter was Queen Victoria of England.
