Summary

Description The U.S. Air Force Boeing VC-137A-BN (s/n 58-6972) in the early 1960s. THe USAF bought three commercial Boeing 707-153 (58-6970 to -6972) for use as VIP transports. When the U.S. president was aboard, the particular aircraft was designated as "Air Force One". All three aircraft were later converted to VC-137B with JT3D-3 turbofans. 58-6972 was delivered to the USAF on 30 June 1959, and was redesignated VC-137B when it was refitted with JT3D-3 turbofan engines in May 1963. It was finally scrapped in 1996 due to severe corrosion.
